Preliminary Final

It has been an exciting 2019 season and the day we have all been waiting for is nearly here! We wish our Seniors, Reserves and Thirds football teams and 15 & Under and 13 & Under netball teams all the best as the season culminates at Calivil Saturday. We are very proud for the first time in history to have all of our football teams featuring and it is the first grand final in the history of the Loddon Valley competition for the 13 & Under netballers whose grade was made competitive this year. The headlines have been dominated by our long-standing Premiership drought, and as we at Bulldogs land know, premierships do not come around every day. From our players, to our sponsors and supporters from far and wide we have put in the hard yards, and today is the day to make it all count!

Congratulations to Billy Micevski, Braidy Dickens, Nathan Moon, Mitch Dingwall, Jan Farrell, Ed Caburnay and Kearley Stone on their achievements which were recognised at the Loddon Valley Football and Netball League presentation night last Monday.

A big special welcome is extended to our newest and youngest club members Miss Ella Grace Driscoll and Miss Harper Betty McErvale. PHFNC wishes to congratulate proud parents Brad & Lauren Driscoll and Adrian & Tamieka McErvale on their happy and safe arrivals.

In last weekend’s preliminary final we had young Mitch Gunther play his 100th game in the thirds and we’d already claimed Pete Gargan as our own Aussie-Pyramid Hillian long ago, but we congratulate him on gaining Australian citizenship.

Lastly, thank you to all of our volunteers, sponsors and supporters who have willingly contributed this season, your efforts do not go unnoticed and have attributed to the club’s overall success this year. We can be very proud of what we have achieved and the pleasure that it brings to our community.

Cheers, Moona

U/18’s

On the final day of winter, the weather was perfect for what promised to be a tough game against a strong Marong side. The first quarter was a grind with the first goal of the game coming off Nick Skinners boot after the siren. The game opened up somewhat in the second quarter with us taking 6 scoring shots and kicking 3 goals, while our defence held strong, allowing no score from Marong. In the second half we scored 6 more goals to Marong’s 3 and came away with a 46 point win.  Our best players were Zac Dingwall, Kobe Schmidt, Nick Skinner, and Carlos Ly. We are extremely proud of the young pups and are very eager to see them take on MGYCW to have a crack at a three-peat!
Final Scores: Pyramid Hill 10.9.69 defeated Marong 3.5.23
Goals: Nick Skinner 3, Ben Forbes 2, Tian Richardson 1, Zac Dingwall 1, Ryan Salvador 1, Carlos Ly 1, Zac Harrison 1.
Brett Hercus Tranpsort Award: Zac Dingwall.  Millers Ag Supplies Award: Kobe Schmidt.  Pyramid Bakery Cafe Award: Nick Skinner.  Good Sports Award: Carlos Ly.  Others: Matt Farrell, Brad Moon, Ed Caburnay, Mitch Gunther.
Seniors
Four goals to nil in the first quarter of our Preliminary Final set the scene for a brilliant display of football as the boys won their way through to the LVFNL Grand Final. The margin was 29 points at the first break and we held that margin for the remainder of the game. Both teams went goal for goal but the buffer never fell below 20 points. Braidy Dickens was on fire up forward booting 6 goals whilst KB was also exceptional providing plenty of run and carry plus kicking 5 himself. That is one box ticked, one more to go!
Final Scores: Pyramid Hill 14.15.99 defeated Bears Lagoon Serpentine 9.10.64
Goals: Braidy Dickens 6, Matt Klein-Breteler 5, Gav James 1, Jake Willcocks 1, Lachie O’Toole 1.
Victoria Hotel Award; Matt Klein-Breteler. National Hotel Award: Lachie O’Toole. Others: Jimmy Sala, Braidy Dickens, Steven Gunther, Micheal Bateman, Gav Jame, Billy Micevski, Adrian McErvale.
13 & U
The girls travelled to Inglewood today to play in their must win Preliminary Final against the strong YCW team.
The girls come out firing early in the game with the first goal being ours.
It didn’t appear that nerves would beat our girls as they took control on the court very early in the match.
With a lead at each quarter break the girls appeared to be playing their best game ever and the determination each player displayed was what got them over the line and earns them their spot in the GRANDFINAL.
Coach Deb, and her assistant Adam will now prepare the girls for their grandfinal battle against Calivil on Saturday.

15&U
After a loss last week in the Semi Final the girls knew that they would have to dig deep to bring home the win today.
It was set to be a warm day and a tough match for our girls. The nerves were running wild but they settled early in the first with a strong lead at quarter time. Mid court had great control, defenders were intercepting well and goalies were shooting with high accuracy.
The girls increased their lead in every quarter and come home with a very convincing win and are off to the GRANDFINAL.
The girls will come up against YCW this weekend in the grandfinal, this will be a very intense match for the girls. Stay strong, believe in yourselves and enjoy the moment girls. We are very proud of you all.
Good luck girls

This was always going to be a tough match for the 17’s against Calivil who finished top of the ladder but lost their semi last week.
Our girls played the match of the season the previous week against Bridgewater to earn their spot in the Prelim.
The sun was shining and the nerves were raging. The girls stepped on court knowing this was a do or die moment. Calivil unfortunately got a few early turnovers which had the girls on the back foot after the first quarter.
The team regrouped and went out for the second quarter giving it their all but again Calivil were switched on and too good for us today.
Congratulations girls for being super stars for the season, finishing third on the ladder is a great achievement that you should all be so proud of. You have all developed and come so far this season. Congratulations girls you are amazing.
